Upravo takav je najnoviji album Paul Motian Banda “Garden of Eden”.

Garden of Eden also expands Motian's unorthodox lineup of two saxophones, two guitars, bass, and drums to an even more uncommon septet featuring an additional guitarist. Opening with two Mingus tunes might suggest that little has changed. Still, as always, Motian's concept is really anti-bebop.

May 25,  · Produced by Manfred Eicher Paul Motian was nothing if not unpredictable, and on Garden of Eden he degausses the jazz landscape not for the first time. The album represents a headlong dive into bebop roots, but also a tangling of their pathways. More than his refashioning, however, it is the instrumentation that holds the most surprises.

First ECM disc by Motian's popular guitars-and-saxes group, previously known as the Electric Bebop Band. Terrific repertoire includes two Charles Mingus tunes: his famous tribute to Lester Young "Goodbye Pork Pie Hat", and "Pithecanthropus Erectus", a cinematic account of the rise and fall of man (played very 'noir' by the Motian group).5/5(5).

The follow-up to I HAVE THE ROOM ABOVE HER, Paul Motian's lauded collaboration with guitarist Bill Frisell and saxophonist Joe Lovano, 's GARDEN OF EDEN finds the veteran jazz drummer leading a much larger ensemble through a remarkable set.

GARDEN features the unusual lineup of three guitarists, two saxophonists, and a bassist, all intuitively led by Motian's dynamic and dexterous rhythms. A graceful version of Charles Mingus's "Pithecanthropus Erectus" and the dreamy original "Etude" are but two highlights of this unique album, which reinforces Motian's status as one of the most vital figures in early 21st-century jazz/5(10).
