Lyrics. Elvis Presley Seven lonely days And a dozen towns ago I reached out one night And you were gone Don't know why you'd run, What you're running to or from All I know is I want to bring you home So I'm walking in the rain, Thumbing for a ride On this lonely Kentucky backroad I've loved you much too long And my love's too strong To let you go, never knowing What went wrong Kentucky rain.

"Kentucky Rain" didn't make the cut for either album, but was added to the re-release of From Elvis In Memphis. Its first appearance on an album was the compilation Worldwide 50 Gold Award Hits Vol. 1. This features Ronnie Milsap on piano (he recalled Presley telling him, "More thunder on the piano, Milsap!").

Kentucky Rain One of his early hits in the ’70s, it’s co-written by country musicians Eddie Rabbitt and Dick Heard. Presley knew how he wanted it to sound and while it only peaked at #16 on the US Billboard Hot , it became a well-loved classic.
